In My Mailbox (8/8/10)

In My Mailbox is hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren.  Here's what I got this week---click the book titles for a link to the Goodreads summary.

From the Library:

North of Beautiful by Justina Chen Headley
I didn't even read the summary until I got home--- I picked this one up because the cover is so pretty.

The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima
I'm on an ARC tour for The Exiled Queen and needed to read the first book in the Seven Realms series before it's my turn to read book two on the tour.

Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick
It's no secret here at I'd So Rather Be Reading that I was not a fan of Hush, Hush the first time I read it.  Read my original review HERE.  However, like Shiver, I'm willing to give it another try.  Plus, I'm on an ARC tour for Crescendo so I decided to give Hush, Hush a second opinion.

Book Tour:

Shadow Hills by Anastasia Hopcus
I've been waiting for forever to finally read Shadow Hills.  I started reading it immediately after receiving it in the mail.  I'll post my review later today---it was great!

A Question for You:
Each of my three library books are brand new.  Don't you just love being one of the first people to read a book from your library?  Am I the only one who gets a big kick out of that?  Let me know how you feel!

  1. I have never been the first to borrow a library book. :( Especially since at my local & school library, there isn't that many RECENT YA. Makes me sad. Oh, Australia...

I've never been the first to borrow a library book, however if I ever get to experience such as you I think I'd react the same!!!

I love the list of books you've received! They are on my TBR list!

  3. You know...I have never been the first to borrow a book at the library! That is very cool. I am also impressed that you are rereading a book you didn't like the first time around! I don't think I'd do that. :P

Thanks for visiting my blog and my IMM post. I appreciate it!

  5. I used to be the first one to borrow books at the library from where I grew up, but now that I live in Chicago that never happens anymore :( Great books this week - enjoy reading!

    Here is my IMM.

  6. When I was in school I was close with the librarian and I think the whole YA section was made up of books I begged her to order. So I was always the first to receive them. Half the time I was there to help her take them out of the box! But it always felt great knowing that I was the first to read it and crack the spine. And also to know that the book was in the library thanks to me.

  9. I love being the first person to read a library book. But I feel extra guilty if something happens to it. I got a tiny speck of food on Linger and felt terrible about it.

  10. Great mailbox! Don't blame you for picking up North of Beautiful for the cover alone, as it's beautiful!

I love it when I'm one of the first to read a new library book! Not sure why, but it does give me a little thrill. :)

I also love when that happens! It makes me feel special for some reason. I am always extra careful with brand new library books so the next person in line can feel like they are reading a brand new book too.

  15. Nice loot and glad to hear you're giving Hush Hush a second chance via Crescendo. I have the book but need to complete the others beforehand.
Have a great reading week :)
