The Last Song Book Club

We are so excited to be in The Last Song Book Club hosted by The Book Vixen!  The first book club post consists of us answering some questions.  Natalie and I will answer them separately:

Have you read any of Nicholas Sparks' novels before?

Kelli: Yes, all of them.  I am a big Sparks fan.
Natalie: Nope, I am the "Sparks Newbie"

What was your first read by him?

Kelli: A Walk to Remember, which I read in one sitting and cried almost the whole way through.
Natalie: I thought about reading Dear John but then changed my mind when I realized how it was going to end :(

What is it about his books that you like?

Kelli: I like the happy endings, and sometimes I pick up one of his books when I need to have a good cry-out.
Natalie: Not sure yet.

If this is your first book by Nicholas Sparks, what about this book appealed to you?

Kelli: Not my first one...not by a long shot.
Natalie: The musical aspect and first love.

Have you seen his book-to-movie adaptations?

Kelli: Yes, I've seen A Walk to Remember, The Notebook, and Message in a Bottle.  I did not watch Dear John because I hated the book ending although the guy who plays John in that movie is delish.  I didn't see Nights in Rodanthe because I thought that book was weak.  And I'm waiting to watch The Last Song after the book club ends!
Natalie: I can't believe I am typing this but I have not seen a single Nicholas Sparks movie... I think it is because I am scared of love stories that will make me cry (I am a well-known Book Snob).

Thank you Book Vixen for hosting this fun book club!

  2. Kelli - I almost didn't watch (or read) A Walk to Remember because of the whole cancer thing. It was a bit too close to home for me but I bit the bullet and read the book and watched the movie. And of course, I cried like a baby all the way through both.

Natalie - How did you know how Dear John was going to end? Did someone spoil it for you?

Kelli - If you didn't like how the Dear John - the book - ended, then you will like the movie ;)

Natalie - You haven't seen a single Nicholas Sparks movie?!! We must rectify this immediately. You're mission, if you accept it, is to go out and get The Notebook. You will fall in love!

Thanks for joining the book club ladies!

It will be interesting to see the different NS POVs from you two since Kelli is a long time fan!

    Thanks for sharing!

  6. Great answers!

@Natalie to answer the question you asked on my blog....I usually like to see the movie and then read the book...that way my opinion of the movie isn't "jaded" by my opinion of the book.
