Mailbox Monday (10/11/10)

Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house during the previous week. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists! Mailbox Monday, which was started by Marcia at The Printed Page, is on blog tour—and She Reads & Reads during the month of October!

Well this week was again about the kiddos... I just finished up our GIANT Family Halloween party and reading has been on the back burner. But I promise this is the last "all kids" mailbox :) I am getting my book line up on board tomorrow and plan to start off with Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare (I LOVE the Immortal Instruments series and hope this one is just as good). I got my copy signed at the Smart Chick Kick It Tour last month and I am a little nervous to read it... for fear of a page being bent or ANYTHING to tarnish my signed book :) But anyway on with what is in my mailbox...

I had another great week with our Middle School book orders! One of my favorite childhood books is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl, so when I see one of his books I automatically buy it for my children's book collection. This time BFG (Big Friendly Giant) was only $2!

School of Fear by Gitty Daneshvari
BFG by Roald Dahl
Wolven by Di Toft
Wolven has such a fun cover. When you move it the image changes from a boy to a wolf.

The library was a hit for my kids this week too. We found several books that go with our "Fall/Halloween" theme for the month.

The Itsy Bitsy Spider by Iza Trapani
Super Stitches, A Book of Superstitions by Ann Nevins
Gooney Bird Green by Lois Lowry
I Can Read About Seasons by Robyn Supraner
Number the Stars by Lois Lowery (I lied earlier, sorry. I forgot I picked this one up for me to read. I read it a very long time ago and want to re-read it plus I really like Lois Lowry)

So what's in your Mailbox?

  1. I guess the "Wolven" is sort of a hollow gram cover?
    That is very cool !
Ah... Roald Dahl's BFG was one of my favorite when I was young, love your mailbox this week ^_^

  2. I'm trying to think of which book the School Of Fear reminds me - the cover is very familiar. Wolven looks great, I love unusual covers and this is certainly that.

  6. Natalie, I haven't read TMI yet, but I really, really enjoyed CA. I have serious love for Will.

I can't wait to read your thoughts on this book because I've heard that people don't like how similar it is to TMI.

Looking forward to your review. :D

  7. I loved the BFG. It's so clever and one of my favs from Dahl. Although "Matilda" has a soft spot for me since that was the first Dahl book I read.
I'm just about to start "Clockwork Angel" too. Can't wait to read your review! Happy Reading!

  8. What a cool cover for Wolven.

Love Dahl and have you tried his adult reads? I have his collected short stories and they are amazing. Very dark sense of humour and telling on his sensitivity for adult reads with a bite.
