Review:

I am always looking for a good paranormal series that has a lot of books! I need a long storyline that will keep me occupied for a while, not allow for a “book bender” and give me something to look forward to because an end doesn’t look anywhere in sight… AND I FOUND IT!

Beautiful Demons popped-up as a recommendation on my Facebook feed of all places; you know that time of day when you are trolling all the people you hardly talk to in real life. Needless to say, it was a happy interruption but I was really hesitant about this series at first because I have been burned before. Remember The House of Night series by PC Cast?! It had all the same ingredients: new girl in school, demons and paranormal crazy, love interests and a lot of books in the series. But then around book 8, it went to the crapper and Kelli and I had to pull the plug and support for that series all together. It. Got. Weird. I mean I’m #inittowinit when I start a series and never leave a book behind à with the exception of that one series.

Alas, the better part of my brain said to take the chance and go for it. This series did not disappoint! I am not a fantasy lover and I was worried they might lean a little more towards that versus paranormal but I was wrong. The world that Cannon has created was very vivid and I could really imagine I was there but without the long drawn out descriptions that lose my interest. She did a great job of building the world and at the same time keeping you very invested in the storyline.

I loved the heroine Harper. From the first book to the last she had major character growth and was not the same little orphan that you were first introduced too. I saw a Facebook post by Cannon where she mentioned Fight Song by Rachel Platten as Harpers anthem and now every time I hear that song I think about this series!

Each book has a very unique twist and turn and I never felt like any of them were alike or that I would have dared to want to miss. Each one gives you one more piece of the puzzle mixed with epic battles, high school drama and of course all #thefeels of first love.

I really liked the love story. It wasn’t insta-love and I could have never guessed where it was headed. It was nice to have the heroine fall for one boy and not have her torn in a love triangle for half the series. Instead we have a little jealousy and healthy competition for Harper. By the time I got to Rival Demons and Demons Forever I was in shock and heartbroken! Cannon doesn’t hold back when she salts the wound!

I am so excited that the story is continuing with the Beautiful Darkness series and cannot wait to see what crazy journey will unfold. But I will add my usual clause: This could still end badly. This is my first Cannon series, pins and needles people!!! Please, Sarra do not break my heart! Kill off all the people you want but don’t break my heart.

I would highly recommend this series to lovers of paranormal, fantasy and YA (it’s a clean YA).

Read the series in this order:
Beautiful Demons (#1), Inner Demons (#2), Bitter Demons (#3)à these are really more like novella size and I read all three in one sitting.
Shadow Demons (#4)
Rival Demons (#5)
Demons Forever (#6)

Cannon did us a real solid and added two novellas at the end from Jackson’s POV! Instant love right?

Demons Wrath: Part 1 (Novella, #6.1)

Demons Wrath: Part 2 (Novella, #6.2)
